What I Eat in a Day: Balanced Plan

After 6 years of following a ketogenic/low-carb lifestyle, I have decided to make the switch and try something new! It has been exciting to venture into new recipes and see how they impact how I look and feel. It has, also, been fun to incorporate new foods with my family to be able to encourage healthy habits with different styles of eating.

Here's what a day of health eating looks like for me on a balanced diet plan!

BREAKFAST:

HEALTHY EGG MCMUFFIN

Ingredients: 

  • 1 English muffin
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 slice Canadian bacon
  • 1 slice cheese (around 80 calories)
  • Avocado oil spray

Slice English muffin in half, spray with avocado oil, and toast in oven or air fryer. Add cheese and bacon to warm it up. Cook a fried egg in avocado oil spray to your preferred doneness. Stack on bread and enjoy!

Calories: 325

Macros: 21P - 13g F - 29C

LUNCH:

SPAGHETTI AND MEAT SAUCE

  • 4.5 ounces 85/15 ground beef
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 3.5 ounces spaghetti noodles (weigh after cooking)

Cook spaghetti noodles according to package instructions. Brown ground beef in pan over medium heat until thoroughly cooked and combine with marinara sauce. Add to noodles and enjoy!

Macros: 30g P - 22g F - 39g C

 


 

SNACK:

PB&J RICE CAKE

  • 1 rice cake (we used apple cinnamon flavor)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon strawberry preserves/strawberry jelly

Add thin layer of peanut butter and strawberry preserves on top of rice cake and enjoy!

Calories: 170

Macros: 4g P - 8g F - 22g C

 


 

DINNER:

CHICKEN CAESAR PASTA SALAD

  • 5 ounces cooked chicken breast
  • 4 ounces cooked bowtie pasta
  • 1 cup lettuce
  • 3 tbsp lite creamy Caesar dressing (around 90 calories for 2 tbsp)

Built your salad bowl by tossing lettuce with 1 tbsp of dressing, layer on pasta tossed in 1 tbsp of dressing, add sliced chicken breast on top and drizzle 1 tbsp of dressing on top. Enjoy!

Calories: 451

Macros: 41g P - 17g F - 37g C

 


 

In addition to the meals above, I have a bonus 100 calories that can go to extra snacks, shakes, or coffee!
